Overuse of antibiotics both in human medicine and farming has resulted in many multiple drug resistant bacteria. Infection causing bacteria are then much harder to treat and new antibiotics must be developed in an effort to keep one step ahead. Sadly this is almost inevitable and hard to deal with effectively as the bacteria are fighting for survival as hard as we are.
